What that means for your AC
Across the state line, HVAC work falls under Georgia's licensing rules rather than Tennessee's. Georgia licenses conditioned air contractors through its Division of Conditioned Air Contractors, so ask for that license; see hiring an HVAC contractor for what else to check.
Older post buildings
Some homes and buildings date to the old Army post and have been converted over the years, with ductwork added later. Uneven cooling is common in buildings like these.
From Hargrave to Fort Oglethorpe
The Army set up a cavalry post at Hargrave, a small settlement named for Confederate soldier William Hamilton Hargrave, beside the Chickamauga battlefield. Landowners sold property to the Army for the 6th Cavalry, and the Chickamauga Post, established in 1902, was later named for James Oglethorpe, founder of the Georgia colony. During and after World War I, from 1917 to 1920, it held civilian internees and prisoners. The city grew around the old post, and many homes nearby are decades old, so a replacement plan helps before an old system fails in July.
